New Gondola in Vallandry Generates Green Energy

The new gondola being installed at Les Arcs – Peisey Vallandry ski area for this coming winter has a several environmentally friendly features.

The lift will feature solar panels to allow it to generate electricity year-round. The heat produced by the motors powering will also be recycled.

The new features are part of a wider policy being introduced across the resort, which already uses 100% green electricity from renewable sources via its energy supplier.  The aim is for 25% of the electricity used for the ski area to be generated from renewable sources by 2030.  Les Arcs then to be fully carbon neutral by 2040.

The new lift is a comfortable 10-seat gondola, installed on the site of the old Vallandry chairlift. It will take skiers, pedestrians and summer mountain bikers from the bottom of the pistes at 1650m to an altitude of 2138m in six minutes.
